As a product of public and parochial schools herself, Raquel knows firsthand the power of education to transform lives. Now, she's running for School Board to ensure that every student regardless of their zip code or background has the opportunity to succeed.
Whether it's fighting for safer classrooms, modernizing our facilities, or ensuring equitable resources for all students, Raquel is committed to putting students first.
Raquel Zamora is a currently a teacher and pupil services and attendance counselor. She has 20 years of experience working for the Los Angeles School District. She has dedicated her career to teaching adults English and youth dropout recovery courses. As a pupil services and attendance counselor she has worked tirelessly to increase enrollment and decrease chronic absenteeism by connecting students and families to resources.
Raquel also has a wealth for experience providing mental health support to students and families. She earned a Master's in Social Work at the University of Southern California. In her current role as a School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Chair at LAUSD Region East she supports approximately 150 pupil services and attendance counselors at 256 school sites with intensive support for student and families with chronic absenteeism.
Raquel received her masters in social work from USC and has experience providing direct mental health support to students and families in need as well as children in foster care.
